Is Waitline safe? Permissions and privacy explained
Before you install any extension that runs on your AI chats, you should know exactly what it can see. Here is the full answer, with nothing hidden.
The short answer
Yes. Waitline was designed so that it cannot read your conversations. It only needs to know whether the AI is currently writing a reply, and that is all it checks.
What the extension can access
When you install an extension, Chrome lists its permissions. Waitline asks for very little:
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| storage | Saves a random device ID, your sign-in token and your on/off setting in your own browser. |
| chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com | To notice when the AI starts and stops writing, and to show the sponsored line on those pages. |
| waitline.appsage.in | Our own server: fetches the ad to show and records that it was viewed. |
It does not request access to your browsing history, other tabs, other websites, cookies, downloads, clipboard, location, camera or microphone.
What it never does
- Read, copy, store or send your prompts
- Read, copy, store or send the AI's answers
- Look at files you upload, or your chat history
- Run on any website other than the three AI sites and our own
- Sell your data, or share anything that identifies you with advertisers
- Inject pop-ups or change the AI's answers
What it does send to us
To pay you correctly and to stop fraud, the extension sends only:
- your random device ID,
- which ad was shown, on which of the three AI sites, and when,
- how long it was visible, and whether you clicked or dismissed it.
Advertisers only ever see totals, such as "10,000 views and 220 clicks". They never see who you are.
How your account and money are protected
- All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Passwords are stored only as salted, one-way hashes; we can't see them.
- Sessions use secure, HttpOnly cookies that scripts on the page can't read.
- Payments and payouts are handled by Razorpay. We never see card numbers or UPI PINs.
- You can unlink any browser from your dashboard at any time.
Check it yourself
- Open
chrome://extensions, find Waitline and click Details. You will see only the permissions listed above. - Open Chrome DevTools (F12) on chatgpt.com, go to the Network tab and filter by "waitline". You will see only small requests for the ad and the view count, with no chat text in them.
- Switch Waitline off from the toolbar icon, and nothing is shown or sent.
Who is responsible for your data
Waitline is operated by AppSage Infosystem Private Limited, Bengaluru, India, and follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data at any time by writing to care@appsage.in. Read the full Privacy Policy.
